The service enables marketing pipeline and attribution analytics and integrates transparently to marketing automation services like Eloqua and Customer Relationship Management tools like Microsoft Dynamics CRM. By combining data almost real-time from multiple sources, marketing gets more transparent and holistic view into the data and can provide real insight for improving operations.

Especially retail is struggling today with digitalisation. Consumers are using various channels for gathering relevant information before making a purchase decision. They also interact with companies trough various ways – in brick&mortar, e-commerce, web, social media, email and trough call centres. Understanding how to develop operations throughout the customer journey to provide exceptional customer experience regardless of the channel is a crucial thing to master.

Big Data Solutions assisted Rautakesko in identifying the customer journey with related customer touch points. The project took place in spring 2015 and was carried out by having joint business and analytics workshops. Business workshops included touch point level customer experience measurement planning with appropriate business KPIs while analytics workshops revealed relevant interaction data that can be used as declarative factors. The end results were valid customer experience blueprints that can be utilised in customer experience development.

Vaalipulssi.fi reveals what Finns are discussing about in social media related to Finnish parliament elections 2015. The service consumes data from major social media services in addition to around 400 Finnish discussion forums. The service visualises what finnish citizens are discussing around the parliament election candidates and parties. The analytics service is fully cloud-based and utilises the latest IBM Bluemix technologies like Cloudant.
 

The content is based on social media data. In addition to the main stream social media applications like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Youtube, Pinterest and Reddit, data is retrieved also from hundreds of finnish discussion forums, tens of thousands of finnish blogs and various comment sections of news pages. The data is retrieved using an API provided by Futusome, a Finnish social media aggregator. The data is read to Cloudant NoSQL database in IBM Bluemix in .json format. The data is then aggregated to candidate, party and higher level views using MapReduce. The web front-end is based on react.js javascript libraries (react.js is built by Facebook and nowadays an open source code). Back-end is based on node.js instances that communicate with Cloudant. The architecture enables instant scalability based on the web application use whether there is 10 or 10.000 simultaneuos users.

Brands have a communications strategy where they define f ex what kind of emotions and value they want the brand to be associated with. Customers interact with the brand in various ways which affect their brand perception. Today, social medias like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and an endless quantity of discussion forums are packed with brand related discussions. However, the brand, communications and marketing managers have difficulties in extracting the brand related content from the social media noise. Vaalipulssi.fi service is an excellent example of a concept that the managers could benefit from. It refines the data and produces insights that are easy to use.
